"La Linfa de los Muertos" (Ref. 823) represents a crucial threshold in Ruggero Ruggieri's career. On a 50x50 cm canvas, the composition is strictly divided into four geometric triangles, dominated by infinite shades of gray. This structured order is, however, crossed by "finger-marks" of sap green, a vital and visceral sign that breaks the pattern. As if in a process of automatic painting, the artist unconsciously imprinted in each section features of faces that seem to belong to another dimension. The work is so charged with emotional tension and unsettling presences that it marked a breaking point, leading the author to move away from abstraction for several years. It is a metaphysical and cathartic painting, where the green sap attempts to flow through the shadows of memory, making it a unique collector's piece for its psychological depth and expressive power.
