I Glicini

"I Glicini" (Ref. 120) is an elegantly vertical work (60x30 cm) capturing the ephemeral and lush beauty of the Ligurian spring. Ruggero Ruggieri draws inspiration from his daily life, depicting the wisteria branches from his own terrace as they cascade lightly against the intense blue of a clear sky. The palette knife technique finds a lyrical expression here: the flower clusters are rendered with dense, vibrant oil touches, creating a tactile relief that simulates the richness of the petals. The sharp chromatic contrast between the lilac and violet tones and the purity of the blue background lends the canvas extraordinary luminosity. This work marks Ruggieri's maturity in floral subjects, blending the strength of the medium with a compositional sensitivity that celebrates domestic nature as an inexhaustible source of visual poetry.
