La cala del Tremaglio

"La cala del Tremaglio" (Ref. 118) is a work by Ruggero Ruggieri capturing a moment of industrious waiting in the waters off the port of Alassio. The painting (40x60 cm) depicts a fishing pilot boat intent on lowering "tremaglio" nets, strategically positioned just a few hundred meters from the "Cappelletta." The ancient little church, guardian of sailors overlooking the harbor, appears in the background as an unwavering spiritual and geographical landmark. Through a dense and decisive oil application, created exclusively with a palette knife, the artist renders the sea's vibration and the boat's solidity, creating a play of relief that enhances the coastal light. Part of a series commissioned for a private residence, the work celebrates the indissoluble bond between man, the fishing trade, and the iconic symbols of the Ligurian landscape.
